CHÂTEAU DE LAMARQUE ~ VINTAGE 2019
JAMES SUCKLING: 95 POINTS
"Plenty of dark-berry, spice and sandalwood aromas follow through to a full to medium body with integrated, chewy tannins that are long and focused. Pretty finish with plenty of energy and intensity. Perhaps the best Lamarque ever. Try after 2025." - November 2021
DECANTER: 92 POINTS
"On the edges of Haut-Médoc as it heads towards St Julien, this increasingly impressive estate has delivered a complex, well balanced wine in 2019 that stood out in my tastings for its well expressed cassis and bilberry notes. High levels of Petit-Verdot (among the highest in the AOC) give not just a deep colour but also an impressively spiced chocolate feel, with acidity that leads the palate upwards on the finish and imparts some clear austerity. 33% new oak. "
JEFF LEVE du WINE CELLAR INSIDER : 90-92 POINTS
"More body, depth and ripeness than usual, this wine offers freshness and fruit, along with a big, crisp juicy gulp of cassis, tobacco, cedar and earth. Full-bodied, with loads of volume and fruit, this is a perfect example of a Left Bank value wine. "
NEAL MARTIN (VINOUS): 92-94 POINTS
“The 2019 de Lamarque has a tightly wound bouquet leaning towards the red side of the fruit spectrum, touches of wild mint emerging with aeration leading to a somewhat "playful" nose. The palate is medium bodied with a very satisfyingly saline entry. This just evokes an estuary scene with oyster sheds, persistent with a tangy, graphite tinged finish. Undoubtedly one of the best de Lamarque wines that I have encountered from barrel.”
