CHÂTEAU DE LAMARQUE ~ VINTAGE 2022

Chateau de Lamarque 2022 by Pierre-Gilles Gromand d'Evry:
"Château de Lamarque 2022 shows a very precise maturity thanks to perfectly healthy vines.
Therefore, the tannins are silky and mellow; generous and round without heaviness; it offers a juicy body, with the balance of an elegant acidity.
The robe has a profound red carmine color with purplish tints; the wine bouquet shows black fruits (blueberries, blackberries and blackcurrants) also present on the pallet with noticeable spicy and pepperish notes thanks to the 16% of Petit-Verdot in the blend. The wine gradually evolves to a long caudalie where the black fruit aromas come back to life.  Beautiful potential ageing capacity."

Excellent depth of currants, cherries, pepper spices and hints of briar and olives. Quite vibrant and structured, with nicely chewy tannins and a tight, extensive finish. Fine-boned and well-knit. Needs two or three years to fully unwind and dissolve. Drink after 2027..

Bravo !

Château Lamarque 2022 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 16% Petit Verdot What freshness, fruit, and diversity in the bouquet of Lamarque 2022, which stands out with its nuances of licorice, garrigue, and blackberries. Its rich and supple tannins offer depth, and one will surely reveal a beautiful concentration and, most importantly, freshness. A welcome element in this context of vigor and charm. A great success! 2027-2047  93/100

"Tight tannins, plenty of structure edged with cloves, black pepper, orange peel, damson, black cherry. A good vintage of this wine, with serious architecture, will take its time to come around. Intense and concentrated in colour, feels finessed and balanced with a ton of Cabernet typicity, and a big imprint from the Petit Verdot in its black pepper spice and smoked raspberry leaf. Manges to walk the line between ripe concentration and keeping those tannins tamed and in character. One to look out for."

"Dark-fruit notes with a touch of spice. Supple fruit on the palate with dark-fruit fragrance. Fresh and not overplayed. Tannins firm and persistent. One of the best from this estate at this stage."

CHRIS KISSACK - 91 Points (deC 2024)

Château de Lamarque (Haut-Médoc) 2022: This feels immediately dark, toasted and smoked on the nose, with brooding blackcurrant, black olive, liquorice, baked blackberry and toast. The palate is leathery, accessible and open, with a rather loose and joyous style, the fruit displaying a charming and peppery core of fruit, with a rich wrapping of slightly drying tannins which persist long into the finish. This could evolve in a very old-school, drying fashion. 91/100 (December 2024 in bottle)

JEB DUNNUCK: 91 points (Feb 2025)

"Plenty of cassis and raspberry fruits as well as tobacco and spice emerge from the 2022 Chateau de Lamarque, a medium-bodied, pure, elegant 2022 with fine tannins and a great finish. My money is on this easily being an outstanding wine". (April 2023)

"A rock-solid Médoc, the 2022 Château De Lamarque is based on equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with 16% Petit Verdot raised in 40% new oak. It delivers a ripe, polished style, offering red and black fruits, camphor, new leather, and sweet baking spices. Medium-bodied and concentrated, with ripe tannins and outstanding length, it’s an elegant, well-balanced wine. 91/100 . (February 2025)"

Markus del monego mw: 93 points (PRIMEUR)

"Intense purple colour with violet hue and black core. Well defined nose with distinct smoky minerality, fine toasting, hints of cocoa and pencil shavings in the background. Complemented by ripe dark berries and juicy plums. On the palate well structured with full-bodied character and very good length, ripe yet quite firm tannins, juicy fruit and fine minerality. A wine with promising potential."

James Lawther mw: 16.5 points

Jeff Leve FOR THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: 91-93 POINTS

Peter Moser for FALSTAFF: 93 points

"Deep dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Delicate orange zest and herbs, dark cherries, ripe plums, a touch of fine oak. Juicy on the palate, ripe cherries, integrated tannins, good freshness, present and fruity in the finish with good length. Certain ageing potential."
