CHÂTEAU DE LAMARQUE ~ VINTAGE 2023
Chateau de Lamarque 2023 by Pierre-Gilles Gromand d'Evry:
The 2023 vintage is a winegrower's vintage, that is to say a farmer's vintage who has been able to adapt to complex weather conditions by precisely following the condition of the vines and their behavior at every stage.
Finally, the bright and late sun was a real miracle which carried the finish of the Merlots. All Cabernets Sauvignons and Petits Verdots have reached their peak of quality and fullness.
This is how the following are blended, after a rigorous selection, in this 2023 vintage: 55% Cabernet Sauvignon – 27% Merlot – 18% Petit Verdot.
The first tastings show:
- A wine with a deep, bright and crimson color
- A bouquet where red fruits and black fruits exude which leads us to imagine a Dutch painting from the 17th century
(still life) where the fruits are bright, juicy and appetizing
- On the palate it is fullness, richness and elegance due to a perfect balance brought by the distinguished acidity of
Cabernest Sauvignon with the maturity of the late sun.
We will appreciate finally the power brought by the Petits Verdots with their spicy and peppery notes.
Finally a long caudalie perfects a vintage that honors the extraordinary previous 2022.

JAMES SUCKLING: 93-94 POINTS
"This is focused and characterful, showing good length and structure, with delicious fruit and wet stone character to it. The tannins are firm but well-integrated and spread across the palate. Velvety. Long finish."
JEAN MARC QUARIN - 90 points
"Couleur sombre et profonde. Nez intense, au fruité mar et subtil. Delicat en entrée de bouche et de suite avec des aromes jamais vus aussi distingués, le vin fond au palais, juteux, delicatement charnu et long, évoquant pour la premiere fois unSaint-julien plutot qu'un Haut-Medoc. Un superbe Outsider ! Assemblage : 55 % cabernet sauvignon, 27 % merlot, 18 %petit verdot Degré d'alcool : 14'2-pH :3,56 -IPT 88. Rendement : 42 hlha." - 2032-2055
MARKUS DEL MONEGO- 92 points
"Dark purple colour with violet hue and black core. Rich nose with ripe blackberries and blackcurrants, fine toasting, dark chocolate and oriental spices in the background. On the palate well balanced and structured with very approachable character, very good length."
