CHÂTEAU DE LAMARQUE ~ VINTAGE 2024
MARKUS DEL MONEGO MW - 92 POINTS
Dark purple colour with violet hue and almost black core. Expressive nose with ripe blackberries and blackcurrants, blackcurrant spurs, dark chocolate, hints of vanilla and gingerbread spices in the background. On the palate well balanced and structured with ripe tannins, quite good mid-palate, rather medium bodied but very good length. 92/100
Christer Byklum - 91 - 93+
"Ruby. Dark fruits, blackberries, fruit forward nose, quite ripe. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, juicy, blackberries, dark fruits, nuanced, elegant, layered, long. Wonderful Lamarque!" - May 2025
JAMES SUCKLING - 91-92 POINTS
"Some stemmy herbs to the fresh dark cherries and roasted spices. Juicy and lightly chewy with succulent fruit, medium to full body and a structured, medium-long finish."
DECANTER - 90 POINTS
"Although there's a nice hit of clean and fresh blue fruit with some juicy acidity to start the tannins take over fairly swiftly with a chalky, powdery texture. It's cool but lacks more density although I do like the salty finish. They did a good job with the vintage in terms of presentation." - May 2025 (Tasted by: Georgina Hindle)
JEAN MARC QUARIN - 91 points
"Couleur grenat, intense, aux reflets sombres. Nez très aromatique, fin, pur, fruité et subtil. Charnu à l'attaque, savoureux en milieu de bouche, avec de la présence et beaucoup de goût, le vin fond en finale, long et savoureux. C'est très bon et une réussite du millésime. Assemblage : 64 % cabernet sauvignon, 20 % merlot, 16 % petit verdot. Degré d’alcool : 13° - pH : 3,60 – IPT : 81. Rendement : 38 hl/ha. Production : 120 000 bouteilles."
PETER MOSER FOR FALSFLAT - 90 points
"Dark ruby, purple reflections, subtle brightening on the rim. Delicate notes of wild black berries, a hint of cherries, tobacco, orange zest underneath. Juicy, ripe cherries, subtle sweetness, integrated acidity, some nougat on the finish. already well developed."
COLIN HAY - THE DRINKS BUSINESS - 88-90 pointS
Chateau de Lamarque 2024: (Haut-Médoc; 64% Cabernet Sauvignon; 20% Merlot; 16% Petit Verdot; a final yield of 38 hl/ha; 13% alcohol; tasted only once at the UGC press tasting at the Cité du Vin). A hint of bulby florality that I like and that works well with the dark stone and berry fruits. There’s a hint of cedar too. Quite classical and with a soft and caressing, stylish, mouthfeel. Creamily textured. Likely to represent excellent value. Promising. 88-90.
JANE ANSON - 90 POINTS
A little old school, where the tannins are sappy rather than polished, with plenty of blackberry and cassis fruit, slate and cloves, sappy quality, well extracted. Don't be surprised by just how much pleasure you get out of this in five years time.
